Challenges for Hamburg

Large metropolitan areas are increasingly being measured by how successfully they implement such future indicators as securing urban quality of life, economic development, sustainability and climate protection. For years now, Hamburg has been setting international standards. The Hamburg Senate’s climate protection concept, which targets a reduction in the total annual carbon emissions by 40% by 2020, is leading the way. Beyond this, the German Federal Government has, within the scope of the diesel summit, decided to promote measures to improve air quality.
